Cat finder located indoor cat who slipped out the back door, survived a coyote attack and was hiding in a storm drain tunnel...

Frasier the big orange indoor cat snuck out the back door in a new housing subdivision in Austin. His owners called the Cat Detective to come out and help find their missing cat. 

 

After finding some orange fur in their backyard, a search for additional clues revealed a faint trail of divots in the lush grass. Just before it got dark, the pet detective pulled out the amplified listening device and a borescope camera to check down in the dark storm drain.

An orange hair caught on the rough concrete entry hole was the clue that convinced us to open up the manhole cover and go down there to investigate.

There was Frasier, alive but injured and in silent survival mode.

​

He finally made a faint meow when he saw us, but it still took an hour to coax him within reach to be able to pick him up.

​

Thanks to his weight and bulk, the coyote lost his grip somewhere between the backyard (where the tufts of fur were found) and the street crossing back to the woods. Fortunately, Frasier had been quick enough to dive down the storm drain and had been tending his wounds for three days.
